Star TV: Broadband Prototype & Strategy

Client: Star TV is a subsidiary of NewsCorp. The Star network reaches more than 300 million viewers across Asia, India and the Middle East. Broadcasting more than 30 channels in 7 languages makes Star distinct among broadcasters.
Challenge: To develop a workable strategy combining business realitites with advancing technology, Star asked us to create a two year roadmap detailing its entry into the broadband arena. The complications lay in catering to Star's eclectic audience in a manner designed to garner loyalty and revenue.
Solution: We delivered a prototype for a multi-channel service, codenamed star.tv. Armed with insight into the realities of the broadcast business model, our solution leveraged technology and design to provide sticky features such as up-to-date multimedia content in 4 languages personalised to viewer preferences. Our team was also instrumental in helping to devise revenue models for the service; revenue streams hinged upon a clever combination of advertising, retailing and subscription fees. |
